Biodegradable Packaging for Environment Public Company Limited (BPE), operating under the “Gracz” brand, was founded by Dr. Weerachat Kittirattanapaiboon, Chief Executive Officer, in response to the growing risks associated with conventional food packaging. Many consumers remain unaware that containers commonly used for take-out food can leach harmful chemicals, including carcinogens, into their meals.
Beyond the health risks, traditional packaging contributes significantly to environmental challenges. These materials are slow to biodegrade, and their disposal imposes a substantial financial burden on national resources, costing billions of baht annually.
Recognizing both the health and environmental implications, Dr. Weerachat pioneered the development of food packaging made from 100% natural plant fibres, including bagasse, bamboo, wheat, and other sustainable sources. These products are designed to meet both consumer needs and functional requirements, while ensuring hygiene and safety without posing any harm to the environment.
Established in January 2005, BPE operates from a 48-rai (19-acre) facility on Asia Road in Chainat Province, Thailand. It is the country’s first and only company to receive Investment Promotion Privilege for biodegradable packaging from the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI). Additionally, BPE is the sole manufacturer within AEC member countries producing food packaging from natural plant fibres that are free from carcinogenic substances. Their products are recognized for superior quality, being leak-proof, oven-safe, microwaveable, freezable, and suitable for both hot and cold foods.
